A Nepali on Dubai Death Row (Save Amar Bahadur Bam Abhiyan)

Posted by Rajesh KC April 22, 2014 :
This is a sad reality of a Nepalese citizen who unfortunately has been in a Dubai jail since 2003. Mr. Amar Baahdur Bam, a resident of Dhari VDC in Darchula District in the Far Western Development Region of Nepal, came to India seeking employment, leaving his newlywed bride, Dhanamati (Dhanisha) Bam, in Nepal.

In India, he worked as a driver’s helper and later as a driver. He was taken to Dubai, having been offered better pay. He went with the great dream of earning good money to support his family, which is in poor economic circumstances. Unfortunately, his employer was involved in the murder of Sharad Shetty, and Mr. Bam was arrested as a driver. He was tried and sentenced to the death penalty along with the real murderers, Manoj Mundano Kukyan and Karna Singh Rajput, who are of India origin. For the last nine years Mr Bam has been waiting for the justice system to re-consider his case. He says that he is innocent and that his only job was to drive the car, and had no knowledge of the sinister events planned by his employers.
