Former Minister and Nepali Congress leader Khum Bahadur Khadka , who was convicted of corruption in August last year, was released from Dillibazar jail on October 19, 2014. An influential leader of the Nepali Congress doing time for 13 months and 19 days for the graft and amassing property disproportionate to his legitimate source of income. Hundreds of NC cadres have gathered outside the prison to welcome leader Khadka with garlands and party flags.Several Nepali Congress leaders on Thursday launched a campaign to revive Nepal as a Hindu state through a nationwide training programme of its cadres. Some leaders of the Nepali Congress, among them some convicts, on Thursday announced a nation-wide movement to declare Nepal a Hindu rastra (state), warning that their party-led government could be toppled over it. The UML has been leading the regression and the counter revolution. And now the Congress has joined those ranks with Khum Bahadur campaigning against democracy. Nepal can not be both a "Hindu nation" and a modern democracy. But Hindus in Nepal can be as Hindu as they want. Nothing stops them. It is called freedom of religion. Many of these leaders hardly have any role in the party these days. A coordination committee was formed to help spread the movement. Many peoplebelievethat the Nepali Congress needs to expel Khum Bahadur Khadka for his regressive activities. Khum Bahadur has a right to free speech. But the Congress now has an obligation to kick him out of the party.
