Nepal announces $8.19 bn post-quake budget

The government is all set to bring budget for the fiscal year 2015/16 on Tuesday.

The budget will be presented at the Legislature-Parliament meeting, told Nepali Congress Joint General Secretary and lawmaker Purna Bahadur Khadka. The government is preparing to present the budget of around Rs 841 billion, while the allocation for the reconstruction fund would be Rs 106 billion.

The National Planning Commission following the massive earthquake had recommended a ceiling on the budget for the coming fiscal year emphasizing it not exceed Rs 735 billion.

According to a high placed government official, the forthcoming budget is to embed Rs 1,000 allowance provided to the civil servant in the salary, while the salary itself will be increased by 10 per cent. RSS
