Traffic Light System was introduced in Kathmandu on 2023 BS however there are only 28 traffic light in entire Kathmandu valley. Of which 22 are out of service . Traffic police said that it was equally important to repair or install new traffic lights to address the Valley’s traffic woes. However, the situation is just pathetic as either some important junctions lack a traffic light system or the lights installed there do not work. Traffic lights installed in places, including Gausala, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Thapathali, Putalisadak, Padmodaya, Kesharmahal, Durbarmarga and Singhadurbar are out of function.
