The cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) have staged demonstrations in Rajbiraj since early morning today to protest against the alleged use of force by police against chair of Sadvawana Party Rajendra Mahato and cadres of the UDMF in Biratnagar on Saturday. Mahato and nine cadres were injured in the incident. The demonstrators assembled at local Gajendra Chowk, Darshan Chowk, Hospital Chowk, among other places, torched tyres, decrying the 'police suppression' and demanded action against the those involved in beating Mahato and cadres. The clash ensued after the police tried to disperse the Front cadres who were holding a sit-in at the customs office, blocking the entry of cargo from the Indian side of the border. RSS
