Protestor lost one of his fingers during a clash between police and protestors

Tense has arise in Simara following clashes between police personnel and local protestors. The locals had been holding a demonstration in the town demanding that the government extend state service centers there. The locals took to the streets after the government rolled back its decision to set up integrated service centers in Simara. Also, locals hurled beer bottles and stones at an ambulance in Simara of Bara district on Sunday which injured 2 patients. The situation became tense after the police intervened in the protest. Police fired over two dozen of teargas shells to disperse the protestors. In turn the locals torched a police post and a motorbike at Simara. The major thoroughfares and education institutions are closed while most vehicles are off the roads.
