Houses violently swept away in raging floodwaters, Japan ( 8 missing & 90,000 evacuated)

Dramatic footage has emerged showing helicopter rescue operations in Japan after days of heavy rain caused river banks to burst in cities north of Tokyo. At least eight people are missing and more than 90,000 people have been forced to evacuate their homes. And the situation seems set to become worse before it improves, with tropical storm Kilo predicted to hit parts of Japan by Friday night (September 11).

At least two people are missing, scores are stranded in flooded homes and some 100,000 evacuated across a wide swathe of Japan today (September 10) after torrential rains saw rivers bursting their banks. Record-breaking rain has prompted authorities to issue "rare weather warnings" for 5 million people in eastern Japan, after Tropical Storm Etau cut across the main island of Honshu yesterday. Footage shows people in the town of Joso in eastern Japan awaiting help on the roofs of their flooded homes, as the Kinugawa river tore through a residential area.
