Stampede at Bangladesh clothes handout kills at least 23

At least 23 people dead as hundreds of people rushed through a small gate into a factory compound before dawn to get the free garments.All the victims were aged over 50 years, and seven were women. Around 30 people were injured in the incident at Narayanganj. According to media reports, Narayanganj situated on the banks of Brahmaputra, hosts the religious gathering every year. Thousands of Hindu pilgrims from Bangladesh, India and Nepal take part in the ritual. Police and local officials said the owner of the factory, his son and six other people had been arrested for failing to ensure public safety.
