The day is celebrated to commemorate democratic movement (called the People's Movement of 2006) led by the people of the country against despotism that turned the country into a federal republican state.Vice-President Parmanand Jha extended best wishes to all Nepali brothers and sisters living in the country and abroad on the occasion of the Loktantra Day today.
