Four Nepali teams were stranded in Kathmandu for two days after their scheduled flight to South Korea via Dragon Air did not take off on Wednesday. Nepali athletes participating in four different sports at the 17th Asian Games will have to rush to the competition venue soon after landing in South Korea on Saturday as they were able to fly to South Korea only on Friday night.Nepali athletes were scheduled to participate in six events tomorrow evening — Kanchhi Maya Koju (10,000m), Keshari Chaudhary (long jump), Gopi Chandra Parki (5,000m), Dil Maya Karki and Tilak Ram Tharu (400m) and Yam Sajan Sunar (100m). According to Athletics Chief Coach Sushil Narshing Rana, the officials had assured the teams of managing their flights for Thursday but the Dragon Air took off from Tribhuvan International Airport without taking the teams. Earlier, Nepal’s participation in cricket, athletics, table tennis and wrestling had become uncertain after Dragon Air cancelled its flights for Wednesday and Thursday. Aman Pode, one of the players of the Asian Games Sepak Takraw squad, has disappeared from Incheon, South Korea on Wednesday. He was expected to return to Nepal along with the Nepali Sepak Takraw squad but he did not come to board his return flight.
