The government on Friday took a decision allowing recent acid victims to take School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations from the hospital where they are undergoing treatment. An unidentified person threw acid on Sangita Magar and Seema Basnet at a coaching centre in Basantapur of the capital city on February 22. The Council of Ministers took the decision in the wake of the girls’ demand that such arrangement be made. The Ministry of Education has been instructed to make necessary arrangements for the exam.The government has pledged to mount necessary initiative in implementing law and making monitoring more effective to deter the repetition of the incidents of violence against women in coming days.
