Co-pilot intended to destroy Germanwings plane, says French prosecutor

Germanwings flight that went off the radar at approximately 11am this morning has crashed in the Alps in southern France near Digne-Les-Bains. It is reported that 148 have been killed after the airplane went off course 50 minutes before the crash at 11:50.

The local La Provence newspaper said the Airbus A320 was carrying 142 passengers, two pilots and four cabin crew, citing aviation officials.
Germanwings and Lufthansa were not immediately available for a comment. Airbus had no immediate comment. The plane was travelling between Barcelona and Dusseldorf when it came down in the French Alps near Digne, according to the AFP News Agency.
There were conflicting early reports of the number of passengers on the plane, which is believed to have a capacity of 174. Le Monde reported that 142 passengers and six crew were on board at the time.
