Australian Defence Force personnel prepare to board a No. 36 Squadron C-17A

Australian Defence Force personnel prepare to board a No. 36 Squadron C-17A Globemaster aircraft headed to Nepal to provide assistance. Operation Nepal Assist 2015 is the ADF’s support to the Whole of Government (WoG) contribution to the international Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) response following the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25th 2015. Two RAAF C-17A Globemaster III aircraft, carrying nearly 15 tonnes in Australian Aid between them, departed RAAF Amberley on the morning of Wednesday, 28 Apr 15 for Bangkok. The aircraft are then planned to fly to Kathmandu the next day (Thursday) and commence evacuee flights between Bangkok and Kathmandu using embarked ADF specialist personnel. source: Royal Australian Air Force
