United Democratic Madheshi Front activists have set a truck carrying drugs on fire, in Birgunj, on Thursday night, making a mockery of the front’s decision to let medical consignments ply. At 1 pm on Thursday, the cadres set the truck (Na 2 Kha 8292) parked near Om Ashram ablaze though the carrier was sporting the banner ‘Essential Drugs’. The arson destroyed drugs worth Rs 20 lakh, according to police, who were making preparations to provide security cover for the vehicle on its way to Janakpur. The vehicle was supposed to leave for Janakpur at 11 pm.
