Youth leader of CPN-UML Yogesh Bhattarai was born on September 6, 1966 in Sangu of Taplejung. He is the son of Bhimlal Bhattarai and Mahendra Devi Bhattarai. He holds Master's Degree in Sociology and Anthropology. He is contesting from Kathmandu-6 in the CA Election 2013 representing CPN-UML.
The Jhapa revolution took place while he was at school. The revolution had its effects in Taplejung as well, which drew him towards communist movement. His family members were also inclined to communist philosophy. He began his political career from ANNFSU in 1981 and worked in preliminary committee at the school as well as at the campus. He also took part in the Free Students Union on many occasions.
