Nepal’s another attempt to write a new constitution is Likely to Miss again.The three major political parties of Nepal in the Constituent Assembly whose task is to craft the new constitution – continue to disagree on several basic questions regarding the number and type of new states, the country’s electoral and judicial systems and the overall shape of governance. The committee tasked with finding a consensus disbanded this week after the parties failed to reach agreement. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, Bamdev Gautam, has said that the new constitution would be promulgated on coming January 22 at any cost. Stating that the new constitution would be promulgated through consensus as soon as possible, Deputy Prime Minister Gautam said it would be done even going for voting process if consensus was not forged on the disputed issues.Speaking in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee of the CA today, CA chair Subas Chandra Nembang urged the leaders to forge consensus for shortening the CA rules of procedures for timely constitution.
