What was seen as the last ditch effort to hash out the disagreement over the process to settle the contentious issues on Thursday turned out to be an exercise in futility. Dahal after receiving a memorandum submitted by Reporters’ Club at the UCPN (Maoist) Parliamentary Party Office in Singha Durbar urged the ruling parties not to resort to forceful measures and warned that such move would aggravate conflict in the country. Dahal spoke against prospect of the CA Chairman presenting the proposal in violation of the CA Regulations 2070. Also, UCPN (Maoist)-led opposition parties on Saturday have asked the Constituent Assembly Chairman Subas Nembang to take steps to renew efforts to forge consensus among the disgruntled sides. The opposition parties have also called for postponement of the CA proceedings for few days more comes at a time when the CA Chairman is expected to table the proposal for preparation of the questionnaire on putting the contentious issues to votes at the CA meeting at 1 pm on Sunday. The UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leaders from Forum (Democratic), Terai-Madhesi Democratic Party met with CA Chairman Nembang at latter’s office making such appeal.
