Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) army reaction on Sambidhan

Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subash Nembang has said the possibility of making of the new constitution within coming January 22 seems impossible. Yesterday the Constituent Assembly (CA) meeting begun at CA building in New Baneshwor despite the absence of the main opposition UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi front. The lawmakers of UCPN (Maoist) and Madhesi parties were absent in yesterday’s CA meeting. CA Chair Nembang said, Talking to the media Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Nembang said "The CA now initiates a process for drafting the constitution since differences among the political parties are further deepening rather than narrowing."
 A general strike called by UCPN (Maoist)-led 30 party alliance and CPN-Maoist has affected normal life across the country. Private and public tranportation were not seen on the street. Normal life was affected in Tarai, western, mid-western and far-western districts as transport was disrupted while marketplaces and educational institutions remained closed in most of the place. In Jhapa, strike organisers clashed with businesspersons at Chandragadhi. According to Partha Mandal, a local journalist, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Loktantrik) activist Ranjit Kumar Sinha was injured in the incident. The alliance enforced the strike demanding the constitution be drafted on consensus and not by following the CA procedures. They have also demanded single-identity-based federalism in the constitution.
