Massive landslide in Humla district landslide blocks Karnali river

Massive landslide in early Tuesday morning at Humla district landslide blocks Karnali river in western Nepal.

A Local residence notice the flow of Karnali river very slow with less amount of water passing through the river. There mighr be a possible flash flood that could occur due to the sudden burst of the artificial lake. The small "Yanchu VDC" lies close to the district headquarters Simikot. In this area there is a continuous rain fall from Sunday. The water level in the river was 6.20 meters at 6 am which decreased to 5.70 meters at 11 am. The water level in the Karnali river is gradually decreasing at the Chispani measurement center which causes high risk of flood in the country’s longest river.
