Sangita Magar, 16, of Ramechhap district, currently living at Jaisidewal-7 in Kathmandu, and Seema Basnet, 15, of Rautahat district, presently living at Bhimsensthan in Kathmandu, who were preparing for the upcoming School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams came under acid attack by an unidentified man when they were waiting for morning tuition classes at a local tuition centre. Meanwhile, the NWC also condemned the news about a seven-year-old girl of Kalaiya Municipality-8 in Bara district, published and broadcasted by different media, saying the girl who had gone missing since February 20 from a cosmetics shop, was found naked and in an unconscious condition at Tri Chandra Higher Secondary School at Kalaiya-6 on Sunday morning. Issuing a press release on Tuesday, the NWC flayed such cruel, inhuman and heinous crime.
There is way too much news in the headlines where we see grievous assaults on women. Be it as simple as a water balloon or dire as splashing acid, respect and consent seems to be sadly missing.
