Police have arrested a man on the charge of possessing fake Nepali currency notes from a hotel in Kathamndu. Police have seized five fake Nepali currency notes of Rs 1000 denominations each and four notes of Rs 500 denominations from his possession.

Few months ago a Pakistani national has been arrested here for allegedly carrying fake Indian currency with a face value of Rs 1 crore, in one of the biggest seizures recently. Pakistani counterfeiters and Indian gangsters are literally minting money dealing in fake and illegal Indian currency using Nepal as the transit point, police sources say. Sheikh Muhammad Fukran, 48, was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on Tuesday, with fake Indian currency carrying a face value of around Rs 1 crore as soon as he landed here through the Qatar Airlines, according to Nepal Police.
