Related News: Police have made public a man on February 24 who is accused of trying to murder a 6-year-old girl after raping her. An 6-year-old girl was found unconscious in Bara district headquarters on Saturday. Police have suspected that the girl was left there after a rape and attempted murder. The child, who was missing from home since yesterday evening, was found in the unconscious state near a cotton industry in Kalaiya-6 this morning. SP Lokendra Bahadur Malla said the girl was rushed to the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital in Birgunj for medical check-up and treatment. Her condition still remains critical, he added. The Narayani Hospital has referred the case to National Medical College. Malla said police are waiting for the medical report to ascertain if she was raped. But the circumstances in which she was found tell that she was raped, according to Malla. Further investigation is underway, the police official said. Police said that the accused has confessed to the crime. The girl went missing on February 20 while playing in the market place. She was found naked and unconscious at a dumping site in Kalaiya Municipality-6, raped and brutalized on February 21. SP Malla quoted the accused as saying that he was under the influence of alcohol when he carried out the act. The girl is undergoing treatment at the ICU of Kanti Children’s Hospital in Kathmandu.
