Leaders agreed to sort out disputed issues of the constitution

Posted by Anup Baral April 22, 2015 :The meeting of the big three political parties- Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) – has given responsibility to the top three leaders to sort out disputed issues of the constitution and forward the issues agreed to the Constituent Assembly.


The meeting held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, took this decision with the commitment that the parties would forge consensus by the coming meeting of the Constituent Assembly on April 23. Senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Sher Bahadur Deuba, told the National News Agency (RSS) that the top leaders of the big three parties were given responsibility to build consensus within one or two days. As the PM Koirala was leaving for Indonesia, one leader from the NC would be assigned in his place, he added. Similarly, Vice-Chairman of the UCPN (Maoist), Narayan Kaji Shrestha, said they had nearly reached an agreement on three points of the agreement made on January 19. According to him, the parties agreed on reviewing the decision of the Supreme Court verdict pertaining to the truth and reconciliation commission, and the commission on forced disappearance.
