Six persons died and 11 others were injured in a jeep accident at Taplejung Municipality-8 in Taplejung district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Devi Maya Katuwal, 65, of Sawadin-9, Nirmala Baral Guragain, 30, of Taplejung-8, Tika Limbu, 31, and SagarLimbu, 19, of Thechambu VDC, Ratnakala Senehang, 64, of Taplejung-4, and Saran Limbu, 31, of Dumrise-1.
The jeep (Ga 1 Ja 5728) was en route to Phungling, the district headquarters of Taplejung, from Thechambu VDC when it skidded off the road and fell some 700 metres, police said. Eight of the injured passengers are in critical condition.
