Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said the present crisis in the country stemming from the devastating earthquake could be overcome through mutual trust and unity.

The Prime Minister, who arrived here in course of making a field visit to the quake-affected areas in the Nuwakot District today, said,” We will resolve all the problems being united at this hour of national emergency. We, the parties, are also one on this and have been looking for solutions at the most difficult of times. We will emerge successful from this difficult phase too.” Stating that tents, which the quake victims have demanded in high numbers, will arrive in adequate numbers, PM Koirala said plans were afoot to give corrugated zinc sheets to them for the time being as the tents alone would not be enough to shelter them from the monsoon rains. “It would be unbecoming of me if I tell you that houses would be built tomorrow and it is also not possible. But we will at least pay our attention to what could be done to survive the coming monsoon period,” he said, adding that plans would be formulated for constructing earthquake resilient houses after the monsoon is gone. The Prime Minister on the occasion directed the bodies concerned to distribute the relief materials in a smooth and proportional way.
