Japanese volcano Mount Shindake erupted spectacularly and suddenly today (Friday May 29), propelling black smoke high into the sky. Authorities have warned of further eruptions from the volcano on the remote southern Japanese island of Kuchinoerabujima and have started the immediate evacuation of all 137 residents on the island.
