Nestle company to destroy Maggie noodles worth $50m

Nestle says it will destroy more than $50m worth of its hugely popular Maggi noodles all over the world.

Noodles brand Maggi got into more trouble. It has been Maggi noodles pulled from New Delhi over reports of high lead levels. People held protests against the multinational Maggi brand of noodles and shopkeepers withdrew the brand from shelves in the state. The Food Safety and Drug Administration found lead content of 17.2 parts per million (ppm) in routine tests on Nestle instant noodles - seven times the legal limit. Future Group, one of India's biggest retailers, has taken Maggi noodles off its store shelves, but the product continues to be widely available at corner shops, food stands and cafes.
