World’s Longest Glass walkway on cliff edge in China

The glass walkway in China extends 85 ½ feet off a cliff.It is located in Hunan Province in China.

In China’s Hebei Province, a glass walkway perched atop a cliff at an altitude of 1,900 meters opened to the public last week. Photos taken of the site have gone viral on the web with many tourists showing signs of cold feet. According to CCTV-News is China's preeminent 24-hour English language television channel, A glass skywalk jutting out from a 718 meter-high cliff for more than 26 meters in the Longgang scenic area of Yunyang County, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality will open to public on April 26, said the Chongqing government during a news conference Tuesday. With the cantilever part of the bridge extending 26.68 meters from the edge, over five meters longer than the famous Grand Canyon Skywalk in the United States, the structure is dubbed the world's longest glass cantilever bridge. The construction of the project at the height of 1010 meters started in March 2014 and has just been finished recently, local officials said. Only 30 tourists will be allowed to get on the bridge each time, said the officials in the news conference. Various performances including base jumping, fashion shows and acrobatic performances will be staged on April 26 on the skywalk during its opening ceremony, according to the local tourism authorities. "Performances on the cantilever bridge will indeed be different from those performed on the ground. The fashion shows and other performances staged high in the sky of more than 1,000 meters will be thrilling and exciting. It will be a brand new visual feast for visitors," said Peng Zhousong, director of the Yunyang Tourist Administration.
