Nepal's Prachanda Raises Objection to Sino-Indian Trade Pact

Posted by Anup Baral July 12, 2014 :
Nepal's main opposition Unified CPN-Maoist party leader Prachanda has objected to a Sino-Indian deal to use as a trade route a disputed territory located in far-western Nepal near the tri-country border.

CPN-Maoist leader Prachanda today warned that it would not be possible to draft the new Nepal Constitution without consensus from all the political parties. "It would not be possible to promulgate the new constitution by the January 22, 2015 deadline, as promised by the political parties, if consensus could not be forged on the key issues of the Constitution within a couple of days," Prachanda said.
