The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has said that it will investigate into a recent incident of trafficking of girls to Dubai via New Delhi upon their arrival in Nepal on Tuesday. Twenty-seven Nepali girls who were arrested from Mahilpalpur in New Delhi by Indian security agencies will be repatriated by the Nepali Embassy in New Delhi. While Indian authorities have arrested Bishnu Tamang, 25, and Ishowari Neupane, 33, who are believed to be members of the trafficking racket, the CIB has been assigned to bust the racket believed to have been actively ferrying girls to various destinations using air-routes through New Delhi and other Indian cities. Deputy Inspector General of Police Kamal Singh Bam, spokesperson of Nepal Police, confirmed that the investigation of the trafficking case will be taken up by CIB. The girls upon their arrival in Nepal will be handed over to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who will then send them to the Ministry of Woman, Child and Social Welfare.
The CIB has made arrangements to first interview the girls and study the documents seized so far. In their statement to Indian authorities, the girls had stated that they were approached by several persons promising better job after the April 25 earthquake. Majority of these girls hail from Gorkha, Sindhupalchok, Nuwakot, Kavre and Dhading, the areas that were worst-affected during the Great Earthquake and subsequent aftershocks. The CIB in its past investigations have successfully been able to bust rackets transporting girls to Dubai, Malaysia and African dance bars.
