In the first case of cholera infection in Kathmandu Valley after the April 25 earthquake, a 28-year-old person from Kuleshwor area has tested positive for the disease.A total of eight samples from over 30 people in Kuleshwor area with similar symptoms were collected for cholera test after they thronged the hospital. Seven other samples returned negative results for the cholera bacteria, Director of the NPHL Dr Geeta Shakya said. “Majority of the cholera diagnosed in Kathmandu show that people were exposed to the bacteria from outside the valley,” she added. “We are trying to figure out if this particular case has any such linkages.”
