Controversial Statements by lawmakers

Posted by Anup Baral August 18, 2015 :

The meeting of the State Affairs Committee under the Legislature-Parliament is scheduled to hold formal discussion on August 22 about the audio-visual clip allegedly containing the statements made by some lawmakers against the national integration. Speaker Subash Chandra Nembang handed over the audio-visual clip to the committee on Monday.

Committee President Dil Bahadur Gharti called the meeting for August 22 although some lawmakers demanded to play the audio-visual clip in today’s meeting. The lawmakers argued that the issue will lose its relevance if discussions were delayed on it. Speaker Nembang asked the State Affairs Committee to investigate the contents of the clip after Deputy Prime Minister Bamdev Gautam handed over the material to him during today's meeting of the Legislature Parliament.

The clip allegedly contains statements by Chairman of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Sadbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato and lawmaker of the Nepali Congress Amaresh Kumar Singh.
Meanwhile, the Committee has appealed to the people to put their dissatisfactions on the province delineation peacefully. President Gharti also directed the government to direct the security personnel to exercise restraint while maintaining law and order in the country. RSS
