Posted by Anup Baral August 15, 2015
Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has asked the people and leaders of various political parties, who are intensifying strikes in the country by putting forth various demands in the new constitution, to get their demands met through talks and consensus. He said that existing problems regarding some issues on the draft constitution could be settled through talks if some groups have reservations over the contents. “The existing problem concerning some issues on the draft constitution chould be sorted out through consensus as the way of consensus is stronger than the agitations,” said Koirala addressing the Legislature-Parliament meeting today.

The PM said that the parties cannot stay back from issuing the constitution as the issuance of the constitution is sure. He urged all to help in the promulgation of the constitution, adding that the new constitution will ensure rights of all people. “The process to write the constitution will be completed only through talks and consensus,” PM Koirala said. The problems that have surfaced after delineation of the provinces should be settled through consensus, he added. “I want to assure you all that rights of all the people will be ensured in the new constitution and that there is no need to resort to any sort of strikes,” Koirala said. He said that the draft constitution is not the final one and it could be amended. “The focus of the world is on Nepal at this point of time. We will take the country ahead to peace and development after the promulgation of the constitution,” Koirala said. RSS
