The demonstration launched in the district against the inclusion of Karnali zone in the far-west province has entered third day on Tuesday. The UCPN (Maoist) is leading today's agitation supported by major political parties.

The identification of the deceased is yet to be ascertained and the dead body has been kept at the premises of District Police Office, Surkhet.The District Police Office, Surkhet had enforced curfew from 1 pm till 9 pm in the evening. Chief District Officer Baldev Gautam said the incident occurred as the law enforcement agency opened air fire to maintain order. Protesters at first vandalized the office of Jhupra Drinking Water Project and then marched toward District Administration Office.
