Three person died and seven others were injured in Surkhet today after clash broke out between demonstrators and police.Locals in the district staged protests demanding that the mid-western region be kept intact while demarcating the country into provinces. They also demanded that Surkhet district be developed as the capital of the new province. The District Police Office, Surkhet had enforced curfew from 1 pm till 9 pm in the evening. Chief District Officer Baldev Gautam said the incident occurred as the law enforcement agency opened air fire to maintain order. Protesters at first vandalized the office of Jhupra Drinking Water Project and then marched toward District Administration Office. The mob then set District Development Office building, municipality office building and the house of Nepali Congress joint general secretary Purna Bahadur Khadka on fire.credit- myrepublica.
