Don Panche Surrenders After Encounter Of Ghaite
Notorious gangster Kumar Shrestha alias ‘Ghaite’ has died in a police encounter at Kapoor Dhara in Samakhusi today.
A team from Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku, shot Ghaite and two of his allies during the encounter. Ghaite, shot at his chest and thigh, later succumbed to his injuries at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj. Pratap Narayan Sah, chief of emergency department of Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, confirmed his death.
SSP Sarbendra Khanal, chief of Metropolitan Crime Division, Teku, informed that a police team from the division had shot at Ghaite in defense when he and his member opened fire at the police team. The police team had gone to arrest the gangster and his gang members after receiving information about the hideout.
Two of his allies, Surendra Maharjan and Raj Maharjan, were also injured in the shooting. Police has impounded a pistol and three motorcycles from the incident site. Police has cordoned the crime scene and further investigating the case.
