Foreign Secy Jaishankar visits Nepal today

Posted by Anup Baral September 18, 2015 :Within 36 hours of Nepal approving its Constitution after seven years of struggle and opposition, India is sending Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar to Kathmandu on Friday in a bid to drive home the message to Nepal’s leadership that they should “show flexibility” so that outstanding issues are addressed through “dialogue and widest possible agreement”. Jaishankar, who will be accompanied by Indian ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae, is expected to meet the entire spectrum of political class in Kathmandu. Ministry of External Affairs’s official spokesperson Vikas Swarup said Jaishankar will be visiting Nepal to “take stock” as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s special envoy.
