Krishna Bahadur Mahara is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist). In the April 2008 Constituent Assembly election he was elected from the Dang-3 constituency, winning 20784 votes. He was subsequently appointed as Minister of Information and Communication in the Cabinet headed by CPN (M) Chairman Prachanda and sworn in on 22 August 2008.

A meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Wednesday passed with a majority the proposal that the House consider the Bill Related to the Reconstruction of the Earthquake-affected Structures, 2072 BS. Lawmakers wanting to register amendment proposals on the Bill have three days to do so. The proposal that the House consider the Bill was presented in the Parliament meeting on Tuesday but could not get through because of a lack of quorum. So, the proposal was tabled today. The Reconstruction Authority that had been set up for the post-earthquake reconstruction had lost its legality without the endorsement of the Bill. Eight thousand eight hundred and ninety people were killed, over 22,000 people injured and physical properties of billions of rupees damaged by the April 25 Gorkha Earthquake. The post-quake reconstruction has not picked up momentum as the Authority has not been able to carry out its functions as it is legally hamstrung. The government had tabled the Reconstruction Bill in the Legislature-Parliament on September 15. The Legislature-Parliament next meets at 3 pm on September 19.
