Talk with Former Chief of Army of Staff of Nepal Gen. Pyar Jung Thapa

General Pyar Jung Thapa was born on 15 September 1946at Siphal, kathmandu. He is the son of mr.Tej Jung Thapa and Mrs.Ishwori Thapa.

He completed his schooling from St. Xavier's Highschool and Bachelor of Arts from Tribhuvan University. General Thapa completed is basic training from Royal military Academy Sandhurst Uk and was commissioned in the Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) in 1964.

He is a qualified para-trooperand did his Ranger's training from United States of America in 1973. He graduated from the staff college, Camberley (UK) in 1978. In 1992, as Deputy Sector Commandar of the vital West Sector, he served in the United Nation Protection Force (UNPR) in former Yugoslavia.

He was promoted to brigade general in 1993. He accumulated vast experience of both staff and command by working as directors in operation, intelligence, trainingreserchand development and commanding royal guards and no 10 brigade(special force).
He was promoted to major general in 1998 and was appointed assistant chief of staff.
