Cooking gas to be available as early as Saturday

Cooking gas in Kathmandu will be available as early as Saturday according to the supplier. As a result of the fuel shortages, ordinary Nepalis are bearing the brunt of the shortages, after fuel and cooking gas became blackmarket commodities that only the privileged few can afford. Nepal's economy is being strangled due to fuel shortage in Nepal. Mean while Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has directed Nepal Oil Corporation to initiate process to import Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) from China. During a meeting with NOC officials and gas dealers on Tuesday, PM directed the concerned stakeholders to forward the process to procure cooking gas from China. Secretary at Ministry of Commerce and Supplies Naindra Prasad Upadhaya was also present in the meeting. Nepalese people have been waiting in a queue to exchange empty cooking gas cylinders for fresh supply for days and days. Due to the protest of Nepalese Madhesi groups, several border points of Nepal and India are blocked, so Nepalese are facing an acute crisis of petroleum products and other essential commodities which are creating a severe fuel shortage and threatens in the festive month.
