Fuel crisis grips Nepal as border crossings close

Most of the border points shut down by the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front reopened from today. With reopening of points bordering India, the flow of vehicles loaded with petroleum products and other goods entering the country has increased. Customs offices in Birgunj and Biratnagar, however, remained closed today too. Closed down for the past five days, Belhiya border point in Rupandehi opened from today afternoon. More than 100 heavy trucks and containers including seven tankers loaded with petro products entered the country via Belhiya Customs office today.
