Political Talk with Dr. Bipin Adhikari Constitutional Expert

Bipin Adhikari is a Nepalese jurisconsult. He is the Dean of Kathmandu University School of Law. Before joining Kathmandu University he led Nepal Consulting Lawyers, Inc - a group of legal professionals in Kathmandu. A PhD of Constitutional Law, Adhikari is a senior constitutional expert, having significant academic interest in the constitution building process in Nepal as an independent constitution building specialist. Apart from constitutional law, he also has expertise in the area of institution building, human rights, access to justice, legal reforms, governance and democratization process. Adhikari's career in the past has involved assignments with national and international agencies which include United Nations entities like the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the UN Development Programme (UNDP), and the UN peacekeeping missions in Liberia and Timor-Leste.
In a desperate bid to ease the ongoing fuel crisis in the country, the government has formally started the process to import petroleum products from China. The unprecedented move may end the four-decade long monopoly of the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as the fuel supplier to Nepal. Newly-appointed Commerce and Supplies Minister Ganesh Man Pun on Saturday said the government was set to import fuel from the China National Petroleum Corporation as the country is reeling under an acute shortage of fuel products.
