China has unveiled its first large passenger aircraft to be made on home soil. One of China's state-owned plane manufacturers has produced the plane in a Chinese initiative to compete in the market for large passenger jets. China is one of the world's biggest aviation markets but currently relies on Boeing and Airbus aircraft. The new C919 was rolled out at a ceremony attended by some 4,000 government officials and other guests at a hangar near Shanghai's International Airport.
