Officially responding to the reference to Nepal in a joint statement of India and the United Kingdom, the government on Sunday said the Constitution making is an internal matter and it is capable of handling its internal affairs on its own. “Nepal respects the international community’s support and goodwill for peace, stability and prosperity,” the statement of the Office of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reads, “However, Nepal strongly views that the constitution making is an internal matter of the country and Nepal is capable of handling its internal affairs on its own.” In a joint statement, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart David Cameron during the former’s London visit last week had “stressed the importance of a lasting and inclusive constitutional settlement in Nepal that will address the remaining areas of concern and promote political stability and economic growth”> Published in thehimalayantimes
