Nepal crisis fuels black market for petrol

Police has arrested four people along with a tanker full of illegally imported aviation fuel from Belchok of Narayangadh on Tuesday. According to dauily newspaper the Himalayan times, The arrestees have been identified as buyer Binod Awasthi and his helper (name not disclosed), driver Somlal Blon of Makawanpur and middleman Kishori Patel of Birgunj. According to Police Inspector Satya Narayan Thapa of Ward Police Office, Narayangadh, the tanker (Na 2 Kha 4365) had travelled from Nepalgunj to Belchok, where they were arrested in the very act of trading the fuel. Police said that Patel tried to get out of the case by bribing them with Rs 50,000.All four of them along with the tanker are under police custody. Police has assumed that the fuel was imported to be used as a raw material for turpentine oil. Thapa informed that they will be made public shortly on today itself.
