The demand for setting up of a high-level Central committee to examine the proposed formation of Gorkhaland was raised by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) during a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi earlier this week. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha President, Bimal Gurung, SS Ahluwalia, MP from Darjeeling, and other GJM functionaries were present during the meeting on December 2, which was attended by Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and other Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) officials, according to the Gorkha Youth and Students’ Association (GYASA).
