Schools in Janakapur that have remained closed for the past four months due to the ongoing agitation by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) are resuming classes from Thursday. Earlier, schools here reopened for a brief time following the green signal from the UDMF. But again they were closed due to objections from the students' union affiliated with the Sharat Singh Bhandari-led Rastriya Madesh Samajbadi Party. A joint meeting among the agitating students' union, Higher Secondary School Association ( HISSAN), Public and Private Boarding School Organisation of Nepal, National Private and Boarding School Association of Nepal ( N PABSAN) and the Progressive Madhesi Society Wednesday ended with the agreement on reopening the closed schools. Besides, as per the agreement, schools will exempt tuition fees of the closed duration, but pay the teachers, according to society Chair Dr Surendra Yadav. RSS
