Posted by Anup Baral January 19, 2016:
The deliberation on the Nepal’s Constitution (1st Amendment) Bill, 2072 scheduled to start on Monday at the legislature-parliament meeting has been deferred by at least two days. The meeting of the senior leaders of the major three political parties and the leaders of the parliamentary parties took the decision to start deliberations on the bill from Thursday.

Speaking to the journalists, government’s taskforce member and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, Bhim Rawal, said the parties held discussion on possible ways to advance the proposal of the agitating Madhes-centric parties and the amendment bill. He added that the leaders decided to start deliberations on the bill from Thursday and informed the members of the respective parties on Saturday before taking the decision on the subject. DPM Rawal said the agitating Madhesi leaders would be informed on the progress while continuing negotiations in the taskforce level or the senior leaders’ level. He said if agreement was not reached by coming Saturday the bill tabled at the parliament would be forwarded. On the key issue of delineation of the provincial borders, Rawal said it would be decided as per the report submitted by the high level political mechanism to be formed as immediate decision on the issue was not possible due to its contentious nature. In the parliamentary meeting which started delaying three hours, House Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar informed that the phase-wise discussion on the bill was removed from the schedule. RSS
