Fresh earthquake of magnitude 4.2 rattles Siraha

A fresh earthquake of local magnitude 4.2 hit Siraha district of eastern Nepal at 6:17 (00:17 UTC) on Wednesday. The National Seismological Centre said it was not an aftershock of the magnitude 7.6-earthquake that rattled the nation on April 25 last year. According to the Centre, the epicentre of the quake was located between Arnamalapur and Hakpara villages of Siraha district. As many as 427 aftershocks of magnitude 4 or above were recorded from the April 25 earthquake till January 22.
