Gunshots fired as Hong Kong police clash with crowd

Rioters clashed with police overnight and into the early hours of Tuesday in Hong Kong. The unrest started when local authorities tried to prevent street food sellers from operating on Monday night. Rioters clashed with police overnight in Hong Kong’s Kowloon district. The violence began after local authorities tried to prevent street food vendors from operating on Monday night. Hong Kong Cable TV showed footage of a police officer firing warning shots into the air from his handgun in an attempt to quell the rioters. Police used pepper spray to disperse the crowds, while rioters threw bricks and lit fires on the streets. We're closely following the story, and will bring you more when we have it.
